The Role: Delivers cost-effective design solutions that comply with the project & statutory requirements, supporting the wider engineering team. Reviews & assesses technical submissions from design contractors determining compliance with standards and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Explore opportunities for developing local community benefits & solutions
Support design contractors, informing & supporting them in delivering design work that complies with requirements
Identify & assess design risks within the project
Ensure technical submissions comply with the accepted format & design requirements
Liaise with external stakeholders; fully capturing their input and balance that with the overall business and technical requirements, with the support of senior team members
Deliver safe & affordable design solutions that meet requirements, ensure value for money at all stages of the client development
Attend public consultation & planning forums, working with local communities identifying priorities

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Communicate, engage & influence a variety of external stakeholders at public forums
Achieved or working towards professional member status
Strong written & spoken communication, interpersonal & influencing skills
Demonstrable knowledge of engineering design principles achieving optimal design outputs
Carry out robust independent checks on a wide variety of designs & produce, interpret & assess specifications, standards & technical reports
Communicate complex issues to stakeholders
Strong planning & organisational skills, delivering under pressure meeting tight deadlines whilst gathering input from other functions
Extensive experience of design & engineering, ranging from feasibility to detail design, working on a large, complex infrastructure project
Resolve complex design problems, demonstrating a tenacious approach tackling problems whilst maintaining attention to detail
Develop excellent relationships with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders, demonstrating strong influencing skills
